She is the young woman who makes her debut opposite country's biggest brand today - Aamir Khan. However, Monica Dogra - the newest debutant who is all set to make a mark with DHOBI GHAT - insists that she never felt like working with a superstar. On the contrary, she declares that instead of giving suggestions (something) that he is known for, he in fact reached out to her for opinion and feedback.
"I guess I must have done a good job in the film due to which everyone felt that I was okay. This is the reason why no one came to me with any radical suggestions", chuckles Monica when asked if there was constant involvement from Aamir when it came to her act in front of the camera, more so because DHOBI GHAT was her first film.
It is a known fact that when Aamir gets associated with a film, it becomes entirely his own. Whether he is in the capacity of a director, producer or only an actor, there is an unmistakable Aamir Khan stamp that one can sense in the essence that a film carries. In this regard, it is hard to believe that Aamir just allowed Monica to let go even though she was a newcomer on the sets.
"On the contrary whenever Aamir spoke to me on the sets, it was always as if he wanted my opinion or feedback", defends Monica, "I can proudly say that I was considered an equal there, just like it was the case with everyone else. Despite Aamir being a producer and Kiran being the director, I was treated no lesser".
Well, now that's a statement one would definitely want to believe.
Starring Prateik Babbar as a central protagonist, DHOBI GHAT releases all over on 21st January.
