BBUDDAH... may just be a thing of the past for Amitabh Bachchan as he gets ready to face the camera all over again for DEPARTMENT later this month. Now that indeed makes for an excellent development for director Ram Gopal Varma as there were insinuations till a couple of months ago that all was not quite well between him and Bachchan.

"There was quite some tension in the air as Sr. Bachchan was supposed to have walked out of the film," comments an insider, "Though Ramu had reiterated that all was well between him and Bachchans and DEPARTMENT was on track, not many chose to believe him since he had also announced BHOOT 2."
Many felt that this was his knee jerk reaction to Vikram Bhatt's announcement of being in charge of BHOOT sequel. However with Ramu actually beginning work on getting the script and screenplay right for BHOOT 2, it started becoming clearer that he was indeed serious about the horror franchise. Meanwhile since DEPARTMENT didn't go on floors in the month of June, as was originally planned, it was time for tongues to start wagging all over again.
"It was quite obvious that DEPARTMENT was firmly put on the backburner. So even though Ramu was in a Bachchan-worship mode right till the release of BBUDDAH...HOGA TERRA BAAP, there wasn't any respite round the corner," the insider continues.
However as it happens in many a thriller, a twist in the tale happened with everything falling in place for Ramu all over again. Amitabh Bachchan's presence in DEPARTMENT has now been confirmed again and wheels are moving once more. As a result it is now the turn of BHOOT 2 to be put on a backburner and DEPARTMENT becoming everyone's priority.
