ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA and HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2
It was to be another black Friday for Bollywood when a Hollywood film was expected to gross more at the Indian box office than a well-made Bollywood multi-starrer ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA. It has not happened according to the latest Box Office reports and buzz. ZNMD's estimated gross collections on Friday have so far been slightly better (about 70-80% opening) than HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2 (about 65-75% opening). However, there are contrarian reports based on morning and afternoon shows that give an edge to the last of the Potter films. It has certainly done well in 3D screens while ZNMD has scored significantly better in single screen theatres.
Territory wise reports are mixed and we have two more days to go before the final weekend figures come out. If the Potter movie drubs ZNMD at the box office, it will be a portentous development for Bollywood. Who could have imagined HARRY POTTER pulling in bigger crowds than Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, and Katrina Kaif put together? It will be happening almost in a row. Just a few weeks ago another Hollywood film TRANSFORMERS stood its ground against two heavily publicized and promoted Bollywood films like Aamir Khan's DELHI BELLY and Amitabh Bachchan's BBUDDAH HOGA TERRA BAAP.
