It could just be a new beginning for Emraan Hashmi if his repertoire over next 12 months is anything to go by. While he is currently shooting for SHANGHAI as well as THE DIRTY PICTURE, he also has DAYAAN, INFORMER, RAAZ 3 and MURDER 3 lined up. With directors like Milan Luthria, Vishal Bhardwaj, Vikram Bhatt and Kunal Deshmukh all set to make films with him, Emraan can well be said to be enjoying all the attention.
"Yeah you can say that," smiles Emraan, "Moreover I am working with makers with whom I always wanted to be associated with. With Milan I have worked earlier in ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI. Then Dibakar is someone whose work I really love. I am enjoying being a part of his SHANGHAI which is turning out to be an interesting political thriller. These films are bringing me into different zones though not quite taking me away from the kind of audience base that I enjoy. "
The renewed confidence also comes from the fact that his MURDER 2, a super hit, took the third biggest opening of the year when it comes to solo starrers. While READY was huge due to the Salman Khan factor, no other superstar other than Ajay Devgn (for SINGHAM) managed the kind of box office response that Emraan enjoyed with his MURDER 2. Guess he can now claim his place under the sun when it comes to consolidating his place in the Top-10 actors that Bollywood boasts of today.
"Arrey har jagah number game ko kyon laana, 'says Emraan in mock irritation, 'Where I stand, no one else is standing. What I can do, others cannot. Similarly what others do, perhaps I cannot do. I have my own market and I am happy to exploit it to the fullest."
