After two months of big releases, and more importantly hit films, there seems to be a pregnant pause at the ticket window. Yes, starting with READY on 3rd June and ending with SINGHAM on July 23rd, we have had a lot of star studded projects with at least 5 hits and even superhits.
SINGHAM and ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA
However, this Friday's three releases, KHAP, GANDHI TO HITLER and BUBBLE GUM, saw poor starts of 5-10 percent and have little or no chance of getting successful as SINGHAM is still the preferred film, predominantly at single screens and the two week old, ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA is staying put at city multiplexes.
From the earlier releases, Rohit Shetty's Ajay Devgn starrer, SINGHAM netted a huge 50 crore during opening week from India and is on way to be a clear hit.
Amongst the older release, Zoya Akhtar's ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA has managed a very steady 19- 20 crore second week taking its two week total to about 65 crore. Needless to add that, ZNMD is a hit in India and a super hit in the overseas.
