The whole month of May saw well known Hollywood sequels of films like FAST AND FURIOUS, PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN, KUNGFU PANDA and HANGOVER dominating small Bollywood films, as we had said last month end.
However, with the first Bollywood biggie of the month of June, READY, hitting the screens (on 3rd June), Hollywood's X- MEN: FIRST CLASS (a well known brand in itself) decided to come a week later as compared to it's international release, something that does not quite happen these days.
X MEN:FIRST CLASS and READY
Unfortunately even the week old Salman-Asin starrer, READY, proved to be too hot for X MEN to handle and although it opened to a decent 50-55 percent at metro multiplexes it was READY which remained the first choice of the audience even during its second weekend!.
The other two Bollywood release, Anurag Kashyap's SHAITAN and Subhash Ghai's LOVE EXPRESS fared worse but as expected.
Coming back to READY, the film saw a very steady weekday run after a huge weekend during the school-college vacation period. As per the initial estimates READY has netted around 67-68 crores, the third best opening week ever after DABANGG and 3 IDIOTS.
