After delivering three back to back masala blockbusters (READY, DABANGG, WANTED) and making one action flick (VEER), Salman Khan has now moved on to playing a lover boy. In his next release BODYGUARD, he would be getting into a romantic zone.
"Due to the kind of image Salman has created off late and the success he has seen, audience expects certain kind of films with him today. However, BODYGUARD is different. It is more of a love story than being an out and out action, drama or comedy," informs a source.
This also explains why Kareena too agreed to step into the film despite a poor record with Salman after KYUNKI and MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA. She was promised that this would be a performance oriented love story instead of being a Salman show reel. However, since the film sees Salman playing Kareena's bodyguard, there is fair share of action as well.
"Salman's fans have certain expectations from his films and that can't be ignored. Also, since this is an Eid release, there is some bit of masala certainly needed. However, audience should be prepared to see their bhai in a different light altogether as there is good deal of emotional scenes that form a part of the narrative," the source continues.
Remake of Tamil flick KAVALAN which was again a remake of Malayalam film BODYGUARD, the Hindi version has been directed by the same man- Siddique. The director as well as producer Atul Agnihotri has promised though that the Hindi adaptation has been modified to suit pan-India sensibilities.
One wonders whether that translates into 'excess of Salman'!
