When JOKER was launched, there was a buzz in the air that the film was Akshay Kumar's entry into the superhero zone. This was also rumored to be an apt follow up to Shahrukh Khan's superhero film RA.ONE. Since Salman Khan and Aamir Khan had not yet done a superhero film, Akshay was supposed to have taken a clear cut lead even though Hrithik Roshan holds the patent of being a superhero (courtesy KRRISH) while Abhishek Bachchan has tried and failed with DRONA. However as things stand today, there is still some more time to go for Akshay before he dons the superhero costume. That's because as learnt from reliable sources, JOKER is anything but a superhero film.
"Superhero film? No, not at all. On the contrary the film is an antithesis of a superhero film. People should have made out from the title itself that there is a JOKER involved, not a 'superhero'," says a crew member on condition of anonymity.
When contacted, Shirish Kunder was happy to talk about the film's progress. He did mention the scale at which the film was being set, how he had grown over the last few years since he first made JAAN-E-MANN etc. etc. However when asked to talk about the film's plot and speculations around the superhero genre, he ended the call abruptly by stating that he was busy and would call back for more details. Expectedly though he didn't call back.
What should we take this as Shirish? Yes, no, maybe?
