TANU WEDS MANU has turned out to be a surprise success of the season and its leading lady Kangna Ranaut is ever so willing to attribute its success to the script which made it all possible for this Aanand L Rai directed film to find an audience across all segments of the audience.
"That's what matters most; a story that you think people will enjoy watching. I believed in what TANU WEDS MANU would say and could see that it would have a connect with the audience," says Kangna who would next be seen in GAME, "This has always been my criteria. I would give any script great consideration but eventually end up picking the one which I believe would entertain audience."
Meanwhile Kangna, who already has a National Award under her belt (for FASHION), could well be conscious of the fact that it would only be performance oriented films from here on, especially after TANU WEDS MANU. How does she keep that passion going at such a young age?
"See, I have had a lot of performance oriented films right at the beginning of my career. Almost all my films were like that, whether it was GANGSTER, WOH LAMHE, LIFE IN A METRO, FASHION or RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES. I was lucky that people liked my performances and I got the awards for these as well. Due to that today I don't feel any pressure for intense roles," she says with a straight face.
Well, given the fact that most of her upcoming films barring GAME are light hearted affairs (DOUBLE DHAMAAL, ONE AND ONLY, RASCALS), Kangna can indeed take a break from her usual intense roles.
