It has now transpired that story of the film RAJDHANI EXPRESS is based on Leander Paes, who plays the main protagonist and Paresh Rawal who plays the antagonist.

According to sources, RAJDHANI EXPRESS is a very realistic film based on the genre of A WEDNESDAY and RANG DE BASANTI, which is more based on the characters in the film, rather than having a conventional leading lady opposite Leander Paes (Guess that should end all speculations about any actress!)

And sources reveal that Leander Paes was keener on having Paresh Rawal to play the antagonist role against him, since he respects him greatly as one of the legendary actors in Bollywood, and only he would do justice to the role.

Even Paresh Rawal liked the script and his characterisation and felt that it was something different from the comedy roles he had been doing of late, besides when he heard that it was the Indian sporting icon debut film, he readily agreed to do RAJDHANI EXPRESS... And both were excited to meet each other on the sets of RAJDHANI EXPRESS.

But they probably didn't reckon that they do not share the screen space together as it's a constant mind games and a battle of wits between Leander and Paresh Rawal in the thriller RAJDHANI EXPRESS.

The former represents a common man and the latter the uncaring, indifferent system. Both the characters remain faceless to each other and yet are involved in a life and death situation.

Though both seem disappointed at not sharing screen space together, they are fine now since it's the demand of the script.
