Though he started his Bollywood career way back in 2001, it is after almost a decade (2011 to be precise) that R.Madhavan is about to get his first solo hit in the Hindi film industry. Agreed that he has been a part of quite a few big hits like RANG DE BASANTI, GURU and 3 IDIOTS but that elusive solo success kept on eluding him.

However not many will be aware that Madhavan had almost refused the role when the director of TANU WEDS MANU had first approached him. As per the actor himself when the director Anand first offered him the role of Manoj, Madhavan was hesitant to accept it as he was quite wary of doing the film with a first time director and so he even went ahead and told Anand that he should sign some other actor .

Madhavan goes on to reveal that Anand was very insistent that he read the script first and then decide, but the very fact that the director had placed so much confidence in him and also the wonderful story line of TANU WEDS MANU convinced the actor to sign on the dotted line.

Well it's good that Madhavan was convinced, and the audience should thank Anand for choosing the brilliant actor!

For the stats, with the reasonably budgeted TANU WEDS MANU netting in excess of 22 crores in just 10-days flat (and that too during the ICC Cricket world cup!), it is only a matter of time before the film is declared a hit.
