If one thought that first time director Abhinay Deo would end up taking offence on speculations around his film GAME being inspired by Hollywood flicks then one is on for a pleasant surprise. That's because this cool as cucumber film maker is hardly bothered about what is being speculated and understands that rumours are part of the game when it comes to speculations.
"Such speculations keep going on and coming up, they are unavoidable", smiles Abhinay who has wrapped up his Abhishek Bachchan, Sarah Jane Dias and Kangna Ranaut starrer GAME, "In general if you look at films being made and delve deep into the storylines, you would anyways ask yourself that how many basic storylines are there after all?"
He says this in response to query around whether GAME would end up finding any reference points in Hollywood cinema. Reason being that plot based films are a rarity in Bollywood and time and again it has been seen that film makers, especially the first timers, find inspiration in Hollywood cinema. Since GAME is carrying a definite Western look and flick and promises to be a tout suspense thriller, speculations are unavoidable.
"Well, you are not the first person to question me on that and I won't be the last film maker to answer such a question", Abhinay comes up with a hearty laugh here, "The fact remains that some really big screenplay writers across the world have admitted that at the end of it all, there are barely 30-40 original story ideas. Everything that you see or hear is something that stems form these basic plots."
A whodunit, GAME has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and releases all over on 1st April.
