Ashutosh Rana would be seen on the big screen after a hiatus in MONICA-THE POLITICS OF MURDER. While one waits to see what this immensely talented actor has to offer in the political drama, one also wonders why did the man disappear from the silver screen for so long. Once known for making frequent big screen appearances, he was suddenly nowhere to be seen with his last film outing being a lesser known flick COFFEE HOUSE (2009).
'Well, I have been going slow but that hasn't been the case just in the last couple of years. In fact even before that I had taken a conscious call on doing lesser films', says Ashutosh, 'I had started working extensively in TV and my daily soap 'Kaali- Ek Agnipariksha' just wrapped up after being in the running for 8 months. During the time period gone by I couldn't concentrate on anything else since the soap required 20-25 days from me in a month.'
He is quite happy with the way his TV career is progressing though. 'It was remarkable for 'Kaali' to be such a success in the time when only 'saas-bahu' serials were meant to be working. Then I also did a reality show 'Sarkaar Ki Duniya' and the game show 'Baazi Kiski'. I have been having my hands full.'
He isn't turning his back to films though and after MONICA, he promises that there are a couple of more interesting films in the pipeline.
Meanwhile one looks forward to the release of director Sushen Bhatnagar MONICA - THE POLITICS OF MURDER which stars Divya Dutta in the central role of Monica and releases all over on 25th March.
