Despite facing the challenge of making JOKER in 3D, Shirish Kunder has managed to wrap up close to half the running length of JOKER inside three weeks. This includes the frequent rain interruptions that he encountered during his first schedule in Chandigarh, Punjab.
Confirms Shirish who is now back in Mumbai and has already begun post production on the portions that have been canned, "Yes, over 40% of the principal shooting of JOKER is already complete. This was a pretty productive first schedule though I must admit that on and off rains in Punjab were a major scare factor. Still, we managed to come back right on time with all portions that were supposed to be shot in cans now. Another major contributing factor is that Akshay also shoots fast by being on time."
AKSHAY KUMAR AND SONAKSHI SINHA IN JOKER
Majority of big budget films with the kind of scale that Shirish is planning for JOKER take around 70-75 days of shooting at the least. However the young director is confident that with the pace he is going, he would be able to wrap up the film much faster. In fact he is aiming to get it all completed within 50 odd days.
"I can afford to do that because I have been an editor myself", smiles Shirish who has edited films like Amitabh Bachchan's AANKHEN, Hrithik Roshan's NA TUM JAANO NA HUM and Shahrukh Khan's MAIN HOON NAA/OM SHANTI OM amongst others in the past, "I bring that skill into my writing as well due to which my scripts are edited as well."
With Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles along with Shreyas Talpade and Minissha Lamba, JOKER is aiming for a release before 2011 end. Once he wraps up JOKER, Shirish would also be kick starting work on Salman Khan starrer KICK later this year.
