Have Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha been inspired from Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz? Well, it pretty much seems so if the latest still from JOKER which has just been leaked is any indication. That's because the first thing that comes to mind on seeing this still is the song 'Jai Jai Shiv Shankar' from Khanna-Mumtaz starrer AAP KI KASAM (1974).
"One can't ignore the similarities here", says a film enthusiast, "Seems like Akshay and Sonakshi have blatantly copied the look as carried by Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz with just some Western elements added in to make it appear like a fusion. In fact their body language also looks similar as they appear to be on a high, just like as it was in 'Jai Jai Shiv Shankar'."
"Have you even heard a line from the song, let alone seeing it beyond a single still," he fires back, "You can't be making assumptions. We have not copied from anywhere. In fact there is no iota of similarity with 'Jai Jai Shiv Shankar' or any other song."
Tell him that Akshay-Sonakshi are seemingly high in the song and also there is distinct presence of Sadhus in the background and Shirish gets amused here, "If you hear Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz song, it was about 'Shiv Shankar'. On the other hand people who you see in the background for Akshay-Sonakshi track are more in 'Hare Krishna Hare Raam' mode. Hope now you don't come back and question me whether we have been inspired with DUM MAARO DUM."
