PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA could well be creating a record of sorts when it comes to sheer volume of a bunch of newcomers being given a break in an A-grade affair. Not just has the entire principal starcast comprising of six protagonists started new with this film, even the producer, director as well as other crew members are freshers.
For debutant producer Abhishek Pathak, the immediate challenge was to come up with a team that could lend justice to the script that his friend and associate Luv Ranjan - a first time director himself - brought with him.
"I was smiling throughout while reading PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA and even fell off my chair on at least four-five junctures", says Abhishek, "I knew I had to make this film. Of course there was a thought about taking established actors but then we wanted each of these six characters to form a bonding in real life as well."
After an intense round of auditions that went for months at stretch, the chosen ones were newcomers Kartik Tiwari, Rayo Bakhirta and Divyendu Sharma opposite whom Nushrat Bharucha, Sonalli Sehgall and Ishita Sharma were cast.
"There was a certain commitment that I wanted from the cast when it came to time as well as total dedication to only one film. It was a must that they spend time with each other both on and off the sets", says Luv who has been an Assistant Director himself before he decided to make a film of his own, "Though budget was not a constraint, what was of real importance was to establish a certain camaraderie between cast and crew members."
"This is when we decided that with PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA we would launch six new actors as well as other crew members who had either not worked in any film before or had just started off", says Abhishek before signing off.
