While Asin is making a huge comeback of sorts with Salman Khan starrer READY, in the original Telugu version it was Genelia D'Souza who was the leading lady. Though Genelia had her own characteristic style in display for the film, Asin being a senior actor herself had all the right reasons to explore the same character differently. "So off went any Genelia influence whatsoever on the film's screenplay and in came the written material that was in accordance to what Asin would have wanted for her part in the film", informs a source attached to the film. Also Asin was assured that she would be given a very good deal with READY despite Salman being on an all time high and hence expected to hog all the limelight.
"Salman has been quite fond of Asin ever since LONDON DREAMS and felt responsible for giving her a solid standing in Bollywood after the debacle of their first film. Asin too rejected all other offers that came her way and instead chose to work in a film that had a proven track record down South. But obviously, Asin knew that she won't be short-changed", continues the source.
Asin makes light of the situation and insists that there was no question of her looking at anyone's performance for any reference whatsoever. "The way READY has been totally revamped by Aneesji (Bazmee), there was no need for me to watch the original READY", says Asin with a straight face, "Other than the basic plotline, everything else has been changed in the Hindi version, especially a major portion in the first half."
Guess what does Genelia have to say when she watches the remake and finds similarities, or the lack of it, if any.
