HAUNTED 3D has taken a decent opening at the box office and if audience reception to this 3D horror film is any indication, it should prove to be a safe bet commercially. Despite starring new names and seeing a relatively low key release, it has managed far better opening, critical appreciation and audience response when compared to LUV KA THE END, the other release of the week. No wonder, now that the film's leading lady - Tia Bajpai - has tasted blood (no pun intended) with this horror flick, she is sure that all her concentration would be entirely on films now.
"Now that I am here, I have no intentions of taking any step back", declares Tia, "I liked the whole process of making this film, the atmosphere was so superb despite the fact that we were dabbling with horror genre. All that matters to me is working hard. Earlier it was music and now it is movies. I hate sitting idle at home."
It wasn't an instant kickstart for Tia though when she decided to turn actress. Since has been a professional singer for around half a decade, it required some intense thinking on her part before she consented to the film. One wonders though whether Vikram Bhatt as the film's director was a strong influencing factor on her. After all the maker of horror films like RAAZ and 1920 could well have been expected to deliver goods yet again with HAUNTED 3D. Moreover horror as a genre is considered to be quite safe as well (something that has been proved again with the success of HAUNTED 3D) which would have further played in Tia's mind, isn't it?
"Honestly I didn't think much about how HAUNTED 3D would do commercially", she says with a straight face, "As I said, I was not quite looking at doing movies. I was happy doing my shows and music albums. There was a lot of travelling involved there and I was keeping a lot busy. When HAUNTED 3D came calling, it was like a cherry on the cake. I thought that by doing a film, it would be an added feather on my cap."
Well, now that it has Tia, one can well expect that you would be looking at more such feathers.
