It is interesting to note how film makers today are looking at unconventional ways to find their actors. One such case in point is that of Kartik who bagged the role of Rajat in Viacom 18 Motion Pictures' PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA.

Produced by Wide Frame Pictures, PKP introduces six newcomers who play the lead in the film. The director Luv Ranjan and producer Abhishek Pathak were very sure of launching fresh faces for this youth-centric romantic comedy.

The story goes that the director-producer duo were very clear that they didn't want the typical chocolate boy for the character of Rajat.

After auditions that went on for days at end, Abhishek with the director Luv Ranjan started browsing through social networking sites in order to come across someone who matched what they had in mind. That is when they discovered Kartik.

"There was no reason for me not to say yes to Kartik", admits Abhishek, "I was all for him and from this point on his grooming started."

Another interesting discovery was that of Ishita, one of the female leads of PKP.

CHECK OUT: PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA creates a record with dozen odd debutants

Apparently, the debutante, who bagged the role of Charu in the film, had no intentions of acting in films till PKP happened to her.

The truth behind her discovery is that she never actually came to audition for the film but was in fact, just visiting the city alongwith a friend who wanted to try for the movie. Director Luv Ranjan and producer Abhishek Pathak were close to giving up when they came across Ishita to play Charu, and instantly wanted to give her a shot.

The film is a cynical comedy on new age love and romance and the problems three boys face with their highly demanding girlfriends!

PKP is out in theatres on 20th May!
