Yet another schedule of Akshay Kumar-John Abraham starrer DESI BOYZ has just been wrapped up and first time director Rohit Dhawan is in constant touch with his dad to exchange notes or taking suggestions around the film's progress.
"Yes, we talk to each other quite frequently even though the film is being shot abroad," says David, "As a father and son we have a great bonding while as professionals too we do share our views. Why just him telling me about DESI BOYZ, even I discuss my own RASCALS with him. We are growing with each other and are well aware about the progress of each other's films."
Even though Akshay took an interim break from the film to shoot for 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', Rohit is already making plans to put together his next shooting schedule. Meanwhile David Dhawan can't thank Akshay Kumar enough for consenting to do the film which marks his son's debut as a director. Though papa Dhawan maintains that his son Rohit bagged the film on the merits of its script, he doesn't deny the fact that in an industry where not many are willing to even listen to a narration, leave aside making any firm plans around doing a film, Akshay stood by his promise of starting a film with the youngster.
"Yeh Akshay ka badappan hai ki usne ek newcomer director ke saath film banaane ke liye haan keh di", says the veteran director with gratitude in his tone, "Rohit didn't get the film because his father is a director; he got it based on what he narrated to Akshay. He liked what he heard and saw that positive energy in him which made him say yes to it. Some may say that it was always on the cards but I know best that it is not that simple. I have been in the industry for three decades to know that despite filmy connections, one has to slog hard before something really materializes."
Though David's affinity has lied mainly with Govinda, Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor, he has shared a good professional relationship with Akshay as well after working with him in MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI and MR AND MRS KHILADI.
