It seems the talented actor Tisca Chopra wants to break free from the tag of a 'dedicated, doting homemaker' which she essayed in Aamir's TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. After playing a glam socialite in DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI, Tisca is back with a psycho thriller, 404 this time and her role is also not the typical housewife.
Says Tisca, "For the first time I am playing a person who's got a job. In TZP and DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI I played a housewife. But in 404 I play a psychiatrist and a teacher. She is extremely intelligent, extremely successful professional. She is absolutely managing her house, husband, child and job of a professor and psychiatrist. So it's a challenging life she has."
She further adds, "TAARE ZAMEEN PAR had established kind of good mother image. But now people are coming to me with such different and vibrant roles. The credit for this goes to Madhur, who smashed that entire image with DIL TO BACCHA HAI JI. And that's the biggest excitement to not get slotted."
Talking about her upcoming film 404 directed by Prawaal Raman, Tisca is the only woman amongst the male dominated star cast. However, Tisca says that she has an essential role in the film. "In a film there can be nothing much without women. In many ways my character is central to the plot. My character unfolds the happenings in the film. It's discovered through her. Also, it's a very well made intelligent film. You have to watch it carefully you can't be lazy as a viewer watching this film," says the beautiful actress.
Other than Tisca Chopra, the psychological thriller also stars Naseeruddin Shah's elder son, Imaad Shah. His last films (YUN HOTA TO KYA HOTA, DIL DOSTI ETC, LITTLE ZIZOU, etc) didn't fare well at box-office but Tisca is confident that Imaad will give many talents a run for their money once 404 releases.
"After watching Imaad in 404, he will give a lot of people run for their money. He has that in his genes," Tisca parises Imaad.
Comparing with his father Naseer, Tisca says, "Imaad is a very laidback guy. He is really a talented actor and he can do whatever he wants to. I have worked with Naseerji in FIRAAQ. But Imaad is cuter and more fun. Both have the same ease in front of the camera and perform effortlessly."
Also starring Nishikant Kamath and Rajvvir Arora, 404 is all set to hit the screens on 20th May 2011.
