Time and again one hears about how a young man was inspired by films of Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar or Shahrukh Khan to get serious about becoming a hero in big bad world of Bollywood. However seldom does one hear a debutant claiming that it was an international pop-star who was responsible for him getting attracted to the world of glamour. Well, that's the story of Raayo Bakhirta, one of the three leading men in PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA, who is not quite playing a pop star in the film but does get to hold a guitar for a few sequences at the least.

"Well, there indeed a story behind me getting attracted by the glamour world and coming down from Shimla to Delhi," says Raayo who hails from Himachal Pradesh, "A friend of mine had given me an audio cassette of Bryan Adams and I heard it over and over again. I really fell in love with the songs. Then I heard one day that Bryan Adams was coming to Delhi for a concert. Since my friends were busy and couldn't accompany me from Shimla to Delhi, I went for the concert all alone."

One is immediately led to believe that a pop star in Raayo was pretty much born there and then amidst all the pyrotechnics and the big city crowd all around him.

"Nothing dramatic happened when I saw the show," laughs Raayo, "I just liked it and was about to return to Shimla when I saw a train passing by. Now this is where the drama began. You may be thinking that I am sounding a lot filmy but trust me; this is how things started moving. I decided to take the train to Mumbai instead of Shimla. I came over to Mumbai, started building contacts, gave dozens of auditions and finally in 2005, I got my first commercial."

From this point on, there was a struggle of over half a decade that saw Raayo featuring in three dozen commercials and clinging on his dreams to hit the big screen.

"Doing films was the obvious next step and here I am talking to you. Guess Bryan Adams did help me wake up to my dreams after all," smiles Raayo before signing off.
