This week's box-office battle has been dominated by the Hollywood venture, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN-ON STRANGER TIDES. The film managed an opening in excess of 50-60 percent, especially it's original English version

However that does not mean that the other release, PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA, has been brushed aside or anything. The film also managed decent opening varying from 20-40 percent with the higher occupancies coming from the Western parts of India. The third release of the week, 404, failed to make a mark, barely managing a 5-15 percent opening.
While that may have been the initial trend but the latest version of PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN is not carrying a great word of mouth and so it is not expected to last beyond the weekend. The other two releases, PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA and 404, are being appreciated by those who have checked them at the cinemas and so are expected to pick up by the word-of -mouth.
