There is a wise saying in the trade and distribution circle that says 'do not release your film a week or two before a real biggie or a highly anticipated film'. And the coming Friday has just that type of a film, READY, which is all set to fetch a flying start at the box-office.
Coming back to our story, Vipul Shah's Barnali Ray Shukla directed, KUCCH LUV JAISAA, chose the last Friday before READY to release and bore the brunt of it as that is one of the main reasons for the slow start of the well made film. The movie has opened to a dull response of 5-20 percent but given the inherent merits of the Rahul Bose-Shefali Shah starrer, the makers can still hope for a turnaround which, even though it looks difficult is not impossible.
From the older releases, PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA sustained better than predicted during the weekdays and managed to net a decent 5.50 crores in it's opening week. Even Amol Gupte's STANLEY KA DABBA has managed a rock steady 2nd week of more than 2 crores. Very creditable indeed!
However there is no shying away from the fact that its Vikram Bhatt's HAUNTED that is managing good collections and is nearing the 25 crore mark and on way to being declared a clean hit as well as the biggest horror grosser.
