Emraan Hashmi is finding himself in a dilemma. Even though practically each of his films has boasted of chartbuster music, he has had enough of it when it comes to promotional music videos. Reason being that in the Mohit Suri directed affair, he is playing a serial killer in MURDER 2. No wonder, he feels that it would be a little out of place for him to start singing and dancing for a song and that too for promotional purpose.
"Call it a personal preference but I find these so called item videos to be disconnected from the rest of the film. Maybe we should just have little bit of such portions and then intersperse them with the actual shots from the film. That would still make sense," says Emraan who has already expressed his apprehensions to his producer and uncle Mukesh Bhatt.
It may be difficult for him to convince the makers though. After all Bhatts have struck gold whenever Emraan has done music videos for them, as has been the case with films like JANNAT, KALYUG, RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES and many more.
"I know, but then there is a saturation point for such numbers as well," argues Emraan, "Also, I truly believe that all these songs for which I did music videos would have worked anyways. You don't have to always start dancing and lip synching for no reasons."
Tell him that market diktats may well force him to wear his dancing shoes again and he says in a surrendered tone, "Let's see how it goes. I agree, sometimes all these things are the need of the music company so you have to understand their point of view as well."
In the recent past Emraan has resisted doing a music video for his last two films DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI as well as CROOK. Now it has to be seen whether for MURDER 2 he is pulled in and asked to bow down to the pressure or not.
