By now it is a known fact that once he got tired of all the gossip columns that were dedicated to him day in and night out, Ranbir Kapoor decided to cut him off from all romantic liaisons. With his name being linked to any and every female that he came in close touch with, Ranbir was so distressed with the entire turn of events that when it came to ROCKSTAR, he was friendly - but just about - with his co-star Nargis Fakhri. So much so that even when it came to professional matters, he chose to keep his distance and let Imtiaz Ali bail out Nargis whenever she found herself in a tricky situation.
"When Ranbir is claiming that he stayed away from being linked to Nargis, he is indeed stating the truth," says a close associate, "He had made sure that he won't invite the kind of attention he had garnered when he had worked with Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra on AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI, RAAJNEETI and ANJAANA ANJAANI. He wanted to entirely stay away and be 'Jordan', the character he is playing in ROCKSTAR. Nargis understood this as well and while both of them stayed friends during the extensive schedule of the film, both were sure that their association would be strictly professional." On contacted, Ranbir started off acknowledging Nargis for the bravura act she has put in the film. "What Nargis has managed to do in ROCKSTAR is simply remarkable. For someone who doesn't know the language and hasn't acted before, she has been superb. I am proud of her," he says.
On being probed further, Ranbir agrees though that he stayed away from lending any acting tips to his newest co-star. "Honestly, even I am fairly new to acting and hence am nobody when it comes to giving tips," he quips, "I am friendly and fond of her; she is great girl after all. I was there to advise her when she occasionally asked for it but that's about it."
Guess that's a step in the right direction Ranbir.
