Till about a fortnight back there were immense speculations around who is playing the title role in BITTOO BOSS, the newest film by the makers of PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA. While there were speculations that Ranveer Singh was the chosen one, especially so since his screen name in BAND BAAJA BAARAAT was 'Bittoo', a complete silence from the makers was enough reason to fuel the gossip.
However now that the film's first poster is out, it has sprung a huge surprise. Neither does Ranveer nor do one of the three newcomers from PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA (as was also speculated) are featuring in the title role here. Instead it is yet another debutant who is being launched with this film that is said to be a racy feel good entertainer which is set in the heartland of India.
"Pulki Samrat is the chosen one," confirms Abhishek Pathak, who is producing the film along with his father Kumar Mangat Pathak, "The film is such that you need someone who doesn't have any set image. Also, Pulkit is a talent to watch out for. Moreover my faith in newcomers has only increased after PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA. If a script warrants a fresh face then why to go for someone tried and tested?"
For the uninitiated, Pulkit is a known name from the television circuit and is best known for his role of Lakshya Virani in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'. However a few years ago he quit television for good and headed for Bollywood in a big way. This is when he and Pathaks happened to discuss about BITTOO BOSS which led to him being finalised for the role.
"He is someone who is starting afresh so it would be unfair to burden him with ton loads of expectations. Still, after interacting with him over last few months and seeing him perform, I can pretty much declare that in Pulkit, we are giving a superstar of future. He is just the right packaging that you expect from a leading hero," adds Kumar Mangat Pathak.
Featuring Amita Pathak as the leading lady, BITTOO BOSS is presented by Viacom 18 and produced by Wide Frame Pictures with music by Raghav Sachar and lyrics by Kumaar. Directed by debutant Supavitra Babul, the film is all set for 20th April release.
