HEROINE is finally on and after a couple of back to back male oriented films (DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI and JAIL), director Madhur Bhandarkar is returning to his first love - a film that has a woman as the central protagonist with a strong characterization to match. While for the filmmaker it is indeed a huge relief to be kick-starting the film, especially due to the trouble he has to go through earlier on when Aishwarya Rai was the original 'heroine', his newest lead actress Kareena Kapoor is all excited to begin shooting for HEROINE later this month.
"And trust me when I say that HEROINE would be very edgy and sensational with a lot of drama," says Kareena, "Madhur is a great director and he has the knack of keeping audience interested in his stories. HEROINE too promises a lot as there would be songs, drama and a lot of edginess to the narrative. This is exactly what Madhur's specialty is; he brings in all the required ingredients in a film in his own unique way."
Though around a year ago she was the first choice for the film, there were some genuine date issues that made Kareena politely decline the offer that was made to her. The film pretty much seems to have come back full circle, now that she is finding herself in the thick of affairs. Guess it is destiny playing its tricks here?
Smiles Kareena, "Yeah, everyone is saying that HEROINE was destined for me and the way there has been shift of events, even I am beginning to believe in it now. The role that I get to play in HEROINE is simply superb and I am pretty much kicked to give it my all. It is already one of the most talked about films of the next year and I am sure that if we all put in the right kind of energy in it, HEROINE would be something really special."
