Despite delivering a hit in his debut film, MUJHE KUCH KEHNA HAI, Tusshar Kapoor could not find much success in his other solo releases and has mostly been seen in multi-starrers.
The turning point in his career was undoubtedly Raj Kumar Santoshi's KHAKEE, where despite the presence of stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, Tusshar held his own and was appreciated by one and all for his stellar performance. Then came the super hit GOLMAAL series which made Tusshar's on screen character, 'Lucky', a household name. Yet again in the GOLMAAL series Tusshar stood tall amongst big names and that too in comedy. His last release, SHOR IN THE CITY, saw Tusshar delivering one of the finest performances of his career.
Just recently Tusshar was in the capital city of Bihar, Patna, for the promotion of THE DIRTY PICTURE. When asked by the media about his preference to work in multi-starrers Tusshar said, ''I have worked in many solo films after my debut film MUJHE KUCH KEHNA HAI but they did not do well and went unnoticed. Maybe because of the fact that most of them did not have any known directors. However with multi-starrers the audience does tend to notice more and the films do better business.'' When asked whether he has any more solo films coming up in near future Tusshar said, ''You can see me in a solo hero film, CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI, directed by Samir Karnik which is due to release soon.'' About his character 'Lucky' in the next edition of GOLMAAL, Tusshar made it clear that once again 'Lucky' will not speak as that was the USP of the series.
Well, we are sure that Tusshar Kapoor has already created a place for himself in the hearts of the people and will definitely stand tall, not only in the next GOLMAAL but will also impress despite names like Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi etc in his next release, sister Ekta Kapoor's, THE DIRTY PICTURE.
