Starring Jesse Metcalfe in the title role, JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE was about four young women who took the flirtatious young man to task after he was found to be cheating on them. Now LADIES V/S RICKY BAHL also sounds suspiciously similar, what with Ranveer Singh (of BAND BAAJA BAARAAT fame) being the centre of attraction and Anushka Sharma along with Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma taking him to task.
While the makers have denied any similarity here between the two films, Anushka is also not willing to take the accusation lying down. She says, ''You know what; I sometimes feel that some of us have a tendency to pull each other down. We don't need people from outside to pull us down; we ourselves are capable of doing it to ourselves. It is surprising that without seeing the film, people are making their own assumptions.'' While one waits to check out what really does the team in store here, Anushka is happy that in comparison to her films in the past (RAB NE BANA DI JODI, BADMAASH COMPANY, BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, PATIALA HOUSE), she is getting to play an altogether different character this time around.
''As I said, the film is about Ricky Bahl meeting his match and if I playing that girl who finally turns over the table for him, you can well imagine the kind of depth that my character would be having,' Anushka perks up here, 'With this role I am getting some variation to my acting skills as well. I am expecting to see a different side of me after this film.''
