It was expected that Rohit Dhawan's DESI BOYZ, starring the winning GARAM MASALA duo of Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, would embark on a solid start. But that did not quite happen as the film had a good to dull start. Fortunately the film netted 26-27 crore, with a stable weekend and noticeable pickups, but that big jump on Sunday was missing. Still, given the fact that the 65 crore (all inclusive cost) DESI BOYZ has already recovered a significant portion of the investment (25-26 crore satellite, 6-7 crore audio and UK subsidy), the film will be profitable for its global distributor, EROS International. DESI BOYZ has also done very well in the overseas grossing £ 244,000 from UK in the opening weekend (25-27 November) and $702,325 from US during the extended 5-day weekend (23-27 November).
