In spite of having an 'A' certificate, the film managed to collect a net Rs. 9 crore on the first day. On Saturday, the collections went up slightly to Rs. 9.25 crore. The collections on Sunday were Rs. 10 crore, taking the 3-day total to Rs. 28.25 crore, managing to achieve footfalls not just in multiplexes but single screens as well.

Says a trade analyst, "DESI BOYZ has opened well, the movie is being liked by one and all. Considering it is an A certified movie the collections are still good and it will go on to be one of those films which will get its due over the span."

Adds another trade analyst, "On the whole, DESI BOYZ is an enjoyable entertainer which will keep its producers, distributors and exhibitors happy. After a long time, an Akshay Kumar starrer has recorded a net collection of more than Rs 8.5 crs on the 1st day. John Abraham has sprung a truly pleasant surprise in the film."

In Dehi-UP, Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts says, "DESI BOYZ opened at 185 screens in the region and closed day one at Rs 1.90 crore. All-India net collections were around Rs 8.50 crore. Today, the movie had an opening of 90 per cent and its numbers are steady."

If that wasn't all, the film grossed over US$80,000 despite releasing in only select centers in the US on the Thanksgiving weekend, the film was also Akshay Kumar's biggest opening in UK for the same period.

Starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada, the 'dramedy' that marked the directorial debut of Rohit Dhawan, follows the story of the corollary of the world being stuck by the financial meltdown.

On home turf the film also opened to some fabulous reviews and is an absolute treat to the female fan following.

Says an acclaimed critic, "The film keeps you in your seats, goofily munching your popcorns...Ladies, this one is for you. Too much sizzle on screen. End result: Can't take your eyes off."
