DESI BOYZ is all set to release in exactly a month from now and while Akshay and John seem to be immensely comfortable in each other's company, director Rohit Dhawan feels that what also makes their pairing special is the fact that their friendship comes across as very convincing on screen.
'See, even in the film they are not projected as two of those regular everyday 'yo dude' kind of buddies,' continues Rohit, 'However the way they would be shown meeting each other, the warmth they feel for each other would show. Audience would there and then get it that these are two guys who really care for each other. Instances of these would be in some of those scenes where they are merely shown having beer with each other or simply chatting or going to work-they fit in really well and how. Now that's the kind of chemistry I wanted for my DESI BOYZ and Akshay-John's presence only accentuated the overall appeal.'
While his male bonding saga seems to be quite promising, one wonders whether it was a conscious approach on his part to present his story in a format which is entirely different from that of his dad. After all David Dhawan has been a pioneer in comedy films right through the 90s and has been churning out movies till date. CHECK OUT: John: I want to be the biggest action hero now
'No, DESI BOYZ is an entirely different film when compared to what dad does; it doesn't have the kind of ingredients that you usually see in his films,' he smiles, 'In any case I am sure that when critics and reviewers will watch DESI BOYZ, they would realise by themselves that my film has a very feel to it.'
With Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh as the leading ladies, DESI BOYZ is a co-production of Vijay Ahuja, Krishika Lulla and Jyoti Deshpande. With music by Pritam, the film releases all over on 25th November.
