'Sadda Haq' has turned out to be rage over last few weeks gone by and for viewers, it is nothing short of a treat to see Ranbir going around with his 'rockstar' act. While the song has also led to an entire concert being planned around the film with A.R. Rahman, Ranbir Kapoor and Mohit Chauhan coming together on stage, can one rightly say that for the actor, this song was always expected to reach such great heights?
"Let me put it this way that when we were making the music of ROCKSTAR, we had to be true to the character and the film," says Ranbir, "So when 'Sadda Haq' was conceptualised, it was derived from the character and theme of the film. The song comes at that point in the film when there is a lot of anger in the character and a voice is required against corruption and society. This is how 'Sadda Haq' was born. Even otherwise we didn't want to be dishonest by putting an item song in the film just because we felt the need of an instant chartbuster."
While 'Sadda Haq' has become a rage already, other songs from the film are also finding appreciation on a gradual basis. Did Ranbir ever wonder if rest of the album would match up to the kind of popularity that 'Sadda Haq' has managed to achieve during last month and a half? CHECK OUT: Rockstar Ranbir to do a live concert with Rahman!
"See, Rahman's music is such that you have to appreciate it over an extended period of time. Moreover there is an altogether different kind of sound associated with Rahman's music," says Ranbir, "In any case, ROCKSTAR was never meant to be a ring-tone kind of an album. I am not surprised with the way ROCKSTAR is finding good audience for itself; after all you can't form a judgement about Rahman's music in just a couple of listening."
Well, here is hoping that this Imtiaz Ali film too finds similar success once it releases all over on 11th November.
