Sunil Bohra, co-producer of the forthcoming SAHEB, BIWI AUR GANGSTER, is planning a special preview of the film for late filmmaker Guru Dutt's family, including his sister Lalita Lajmi, her filmmaker-daughter Kalpana Lajmi, his first cousin Shyam Benegal and son Arun Dutt.
This film will be a tribute to Guru Dutt and the whole cast and crew of the 1962 film. "I've already spoken to Shyam babu, who is in Delhi, and he has promised to be there. It's a film he had shortlisted as a must-watch even before we extended the invitation, "says Bohra.
SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER is inspired by the principle characters of SAHIB BIBI AUR GHULAM and is a contemporary version on how the characters would behave in this era. Says Tigmanshu Dhulia, "My film is not a remake or an adaptation of SAHIB BIBI AUR GHULAM. I have just taken the three principle characters from that film and made our own version. The similarity is limited to these three characters. After that it is a completely new film."
While generally people have the first screening of the film for their cast and crew, Sunil Bohra has decided to show the film to the family members of Guru Dutt and other star cast while the whole team is away promoting the film in other cities.
