Month gone by was quite eventful for the makers of TEZZ with producer Ratan Jain and director Priyadarshan on two ends of the spectrum over the item song being included in the film and even some verbal volley at display here. Now barely has the Mallika Sherawat v/s Sameera Reddy imbroglio died down with the song 'Laila' being chopped off from the film, here is some dope about the conflict that stayed within the board rooms and never quite came out in open.
"For the role enacted by Mohanlal, Priyadarshan and Ratan Jain could never come on the same page," informs our source, "There were a few actors with whom Priyan was not very comfortable working with and the same held true for some of the names suggested by Jain. There was quite some to and fro there and it turned into a real tense moment for all involved since the film's shooting was waiting to kick-start."
Later when Priyadarshan suggested Mohanlal's name, Ratan Jain - who had never worked with the actor before - went ahead with the director's conviction and gave his nod of approval. "We had a few other actors in mind for this role but that couldn't materialise due to certain reasons. Later when Priyan brought Mohanlal into the picture, I just went ahead with it," says Jain.
Thankfully, the choice of lead actor was unanimous though as Ajay Devgn topped everyone's list.
"Ajay is the best choice for the role. Period," says Jain, "He is known for his intense performances and audience would see that again in TEZZ as well. There is hardly anyone who could have played a character like this who has been wronged and now finds justice with his own ways. We didn't have too many choices and Ajay just walked himself into the film."
Well, hope all this flip-flop is indeed worth it when the story unfolds on screen this Friday.
