Pooja Bhatt: There were people who wanted Sunny Leone to fail

In the industry for over a couple of decades now (ever since she made her acting debut with DADDY (1989)), Pooja Bhatt has seen the best and the worst of Bollywood up, close and personal. Add to that plethora of experience that Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt carry in the family and the feisty woman was pretty much aware of what lies beneath, happens behind the back and comes on the forefront. Even as JISM 2 has ended up being a fair grosser, Pooja is aware that amidst all the buzz and hype surrounding Sunny Leone, there were quite a few who were seeing the drama unfold with fair bit of apprehension.
"The very fact that we were a bunch of people who did everything together on our own terms didn't really go down well with a few," Pooja says in her characteristic 'andaaz', "In fact I remember telling Sunny even before the film went on floors that there are more people who want her to fail than the ones who want her to succeed."
She confesses that the easier way out for her would have been to project Sunny as-is and cash in entirely on her on-web image. However she wanted the woman to basically fit into the JISM 2 template and then narrate a story that was waiting to be told.
She reasons, "Thankfully Sunny, Randeep, Arunoday, Dino and myself have been a great team together and we went ahead with the right conviction."
Well Pooja, now that the film has completed a week at the box office, the numbers should speak up for themselves.
