Katrina not just an eye-candy in EK THA TIGER, says Kabir Khan

If Katrina Kaif is currently being seen only in song and dance routine with Salman Khan in the middle of action (pun intended) for EK THA TIGER then that is with a reason. If sources attached to the film are to be believed, Kat is actually a surprise package in the film and there is a reason why she has been shielded in the promotion so far, lest the suspense element goes away.
"Her part in the film is going to surprise and shock a lot of people. There is a lot more to her than what actually meets the eye. The makers (Yash Raj, Kabir Khan) have taken a conscious call not to over expose her. However rest assured; she is doing much more in the film than just singing and dancing to 'Mashallah', 'Banjaara' and 'Laapata'," informs our well-placed source.
In fact buzz is that even before Salman Khan stepped into the project, Kabir Khan was sure that Katrina would definitely be in the film. This time he had promised her that the role would be much meatier than the one she had played in his NEW YORK and there would be multiple layers to her character, hence allowing her a performance based part.
On contacted, the makers were not too forthcoming about the role though they confirmed that Katrina has much more to give to the film than what the promos may suggest. Said Kabir Khan, "There are some specific characteristic traits that Katrina displays in the film and once you watch the film, you would realise why no one else but only she could have played the role. There is a reason why Katrina was game to do the film. After being in the industry for so long, she won't be doing anything just to be seen as an eye candy."
He went on to add, "She has done something which you rarely see in a Hindi film. Yes, we are underplaying her presence in the film but that's for a reason. Audiences are in for a surprise. Beyond that I can't disclose more."
