Throughout the day we have been hearing about the humongous opening that Yash Raj Film's Salman-Katrina starrer, EK THA TIGER has embarked upon.
To know the exact situation we asked the dynamic DGM of Cinemax India, Girish Wankhade, about his views and screening experiences on the Independence Day release EK THA TIGER, and he said, "It was just superb. I saw ETT at an early morning show with a 277 capacity crowd. The reactions were simply amazing. People were clapping, laughing and applauding. The picture appeals to the audience's sensibilities in a big way."
So how many screens has Cinemax given to ETT? And Girish replied, "At an all India level out of 141 screens, 125 have been exclusively given to ETT. Here in Mumbai out of 6 screens, 5 are for ETT.
We queried Girish further about the advance booking trends and he said, "When we opened the advance on Sunday, 2500 tickets were sold out on the first day. Monday saw the figure climbing to 5000 and by Tuesday, 6500 tickets were gone!"
Before letting 'Bollywood's busiest man' go we asked Girish about the audience's reaction and as to how the film would go after the initial hype gets over, and he replied, "Let me tell you. I haven't seen such reactions since DHOOM and 3 IDIOTS. Additionally the film is very well made with good production values, locations and mind-blowing action, and with exceptional performances by Salman and Katrina. And most importantly the film has repeat value and so will definitely sustain."
Well, looks like Girish's prediction of ETT crossing the 200 crore mark is sure to come true!
