When Ranbir Kapoor steps into a project, one can well assume that he gives it his complete commitment. There is no surprise in that either, given the fact that the young lad is very selective when it comes to picking and choosing films. Hence, once he is on board, he is throughout involved in the making of a film. However this could also lead to a scenario where an actor's involvement could be looked at as interference by a filmmaker. Didn't that make Anurag Basu a little wary during the making of BARFI!?
''See, when Ranbir steps into the project, he does so because he has complete confidence and trust in the director. This means I had complete control over the entire medium, something that I always wanted', says Anurag Basu, 'In fact that was the very reason I became a director as I had my own ways of telling stories. In that perspective, even when I was making films for Mahesh Bhatt saab, I had complete creative freedom.''
One can well understand where Anurag is coming from, given the fact that during the making of KITES, he hadn't exactly been given the same platform by Roshans. So one can safely presume that he had far more fun during the making of BARFI!?
''Let's say that I function better when I can do things on my own'', he smiles, ''You can see that from my body language when I walk in the morning to the sets. I am much happier this way. This also has a lot to do with my stubborn nature. I enjoy it all the most when I am in control.''
