Mallika wants to support, inspire young girls
December 6, 2012 04:45:08 PM IST By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial
From the days of KHWAHISH when her 17 smooches made headlines to 10 years later when even a petite, and supposedly conservative, Aditi Rao Hydari, is challenging those records, Mallika Sherawat has most definitely found her way to be in circulation. From being 'Jalebi Bai' [DOUBLE DHAMAAL] to indulging in 'Politics of Love' in a foreign land to finding herself in the middle of some KLPD (remember KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI?) and now rubbing shoulders with none less than Sir Elton John, Mallika has never found it difficult as far as attracting spotlight on herself is concerned.
While she has enjoyed a glamorous phase of her life and isn't planning to hang up her boots any time soon, Mallika is now looking at doing something beyond the world of lights, camera and action.
"To begin with, she wants to be an ambassador of preventing female foeticide,'' says a source close to the actress, "With the kind of platform she has managed to build for herself, she now wants to do something for the rest of the world as well. Not just that as she also wants young girls from small towns and cities and villages in Punjab and Haryana to come out of their house and make a life for them."
Though she is currently in Los Angeles, she may begin work in this direction once she lands in India for her Bollywood assignments.
Says Mallika, "Due to the position I am enjoying today, I am sure I can do a lot to make them take this big step. I hope with the kind of independence that I have earned for myself, there are many girls who can be motivated and inspired. Trust me, there is so much of talent and pool of skills lying out there, it is just that these girls don't get a chance. They deserve that."
Good thought Mallika, though we would love to see how you end up bringing them into action. Now that would be noble indeed!
