Acclaimed author and historian Vishwas Patil's search for the lead in his ambitious directorial venture, RAJJO, came to an end as he locked in on Kangana Ranaut for the hard-hitting, real to life musical entertainer that showcases the changing scenario of Mumbai.
Winner of several prestigious awards including the Sahitya Akademi National Award, Priyadarshini National Award and Bhartiya Bhasha Parishad Award - Director Vishwas Patil while zeroing in on his leading lady who plays a nautch girl in the film, was looking for a powerhouse performer with a regal appeal on the lines of the iconic Madhubala.
Talking about his RAJJO, says director Vishwas Patil, ''There is no doubt that Kangana is a talent to reckon with, however, what appealed to me more was that she has a strong Indianess to her that hasn't been exploited in her roles so far. With RAJJO that is exactly what I aim to do. The film looks into the issue of the mujra houses that are dying a slow death in today's competitive world of high rises and corruption.''
