Both the new releases of this week, CIGARETTE KI TARAH and the critically acclaimed MYOHO, failed to achieve anything significant at the box-office, and as a result the exhibitors are giving extra shows to the two older releases, KHILADI 786 and TALAASH - THE ANSWER LIES WITHIN, depending upon the circuits where they are performing well.
KHILADI 786 AND TALAASH
Though it was expected to bite the dust after the opening weekend, but as we had indicated in our reports, Ashish R Mohun's Akshay-Asin starrer, KHILADI 786, saw a steady run even during the weekdays.
Just to recall, after a mixed opening day KHILADI 786 saw a growth on each subsequent day of the weekend, netting a fair to decent 32 crore, and at the end of the first week the total stands at 48-49 crore (to be validated). Given that this is another open week before DABANGG 2 takes over, the reasonably priced (for an Akshay starrer) film is all set to be at least an above average fare from here onwards.
Meanwhile Reema Kagti's Aamir, Rani and Kareena starrer, TALAASH, crashed by over75 percent in the second week (though the multiplexes were decent), and the film has netted 80-81 crore in two weeks from India.
With TALAASH grossing in excess of $7.50m in the overseas, the film is an above average fare based on its 45 crore release cost (sans Aamir's fee) and the worldwide run.
