With Vidya Balan winning awards and accolades left, right and center and has emerged as an A league actress, now all eyes are set on her forthcoming film KAHAANI directed by Sujoy Ghosh. KAHAANI is releasing just after her blockbuster THE DIRTY PICTURE so the expectations are bound to increase. While every other filmmaker is vying to work with the most sought after lady of B-town today, Sujoy is one such lucky director to have worked with Vidya, immediately after her newfound stardom.
So is Sujoy wary of this fact and does it pressurize him to sustain what Vidya has achieved today with his upcoming film? Ask Sujoy about the humungous expectations and he says, ''The pressure is always there. In case, I had come before THE DIRTY PICTURE the pressure to make a good film still would have been there. Just because Vidya is riding high with success doesn't mean I can take things for granted. Though it does give me an advantage that my opening weekend will be packed.'' As per Sujoy, Vidya is the most trusted actors of Bollywood today. ''With Vidya what happens is your film immediately gets a stamp of quality. There's certain amount of quality assurance with Vidya. People are very fond of her and associate her with something good. In that way it has been very beneficial for me. But now to prove that she has entrusted her stake in a right film is quite a challenge for me,'' says Sujoy.
Vidya was always on the wish list of Sujoy Ghosh and which is why the film KAHAANI happened. ''I always wanted to work with her. She is a great actor. It was first Vidya and then KAHAANI was conceived,'' reveals the director.
Sujoy is all praise for Vidya, ''It was a very tough film to do. However the best part about working with good actors like Vidya is that you give them anything and they will bring their own flavour to it. So you don't have to tell them what has to be done.''
