Prateik has been a part of some prominent films of Bollywood like Aamir's JAANE TU YAA JAANE NA and DHOBI GHAT, Prakash Jha's AARAKSHAN, Rohan Sippy's DUM MAARO DUM, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production MY FRIEND PINTO. However, he's quite proud to have done a simple and sweet film like EKK DEEWANA THA.
Ask Prateik what attracted him to do EKK DEEWANA THA after being a part of cream projects and he says, ''The most amazing part about EKK DEEWANA THA is that it is not larger-than-life highly glamorous film. The USP of this film is its down-to-earth treatment. I was blown away by the story and the simplicity of the romance. And I am quite proud to be part of this film.'' As remakes of south films is the in-thing in Bollywood today and EKK DEEWANA THA is also a remake of Tamil and Telugu films, Prateik is of the opinion that remakes are a safe bet for filmmakers. ''It's safe aspect. But only when films are appreciated,'' says the 25-year old actor.
However, the Hindi remake has a different ending. Says Prateik, ''It's a pretty much frame-to-frame copy. The only change is the ending. While Tamil had a sad ending; Telugu had a happy ending, Hindi remake's ending is a secret, but I had to bring my own instincts and pull it in my own style.''
Also starring Amy Jackson, EKK DEEWANA THA releases today in cinemas worldwide.
