Actor Prateik made a great debut with Abbas Tyrewala's JAANE TU... YA JAANE NA. He was again appreciated for his role in DHOBI GHAAT. Incidentally both the films were from the Aamir Khan banner. His last solo release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's MY FRIEND PINTO, sank without a trace, though Prateik made his views public that the film did not reach the target audience.
EKK DEEWANA THA and EK MAIN AUR EKK TU
While that is history his latest solo release, EKK DEEWANA THA, has been extensively promoted, and additionally has music by Oscar winner A. R. Rahman and the highly renowned lyricist, Javed Akhtar. In spite of the mentioned factors the film embarked upon a poor to dull start of around 10 percent, across the board. The feedback is also not very encouraging, and so only a miracle can reverse the fortune of EKK DEEWANA THA. CHECK OUT: Prateik- EKK DEEWANA THA is not larger-than-life
Meanwhile last Friday's Kareena-Imran starrer, EK MAIN AUR EKK TU, saw a healthy weekend of 20.50 crore after an ordinary first day of 5.5 crore, and barring Valentine Day, the film again saw ordinary weekdays, but thankfully ended the week netting a decent to good 30-31 crore (to be validated).
Given the all inclusive cost of a round 37-38 crore, half of which has already been recovered from satellite to audio rights, the film is all set to be an above average, if not more, more so due to its good overseas run.
