She may be looking at winning the hearts of the Bengalis. However when it comes to celebrating the arrival of her 'baby' on the day of reckoning, Vidya may have to wait for a week bit longer. Though KAHAANI is set in Kolkata and hence it is just apt that the film is first shown to the natives of the city via an exclusive premiere, some other engagements mean that people out there may have to watch it only on the day of its release.
''There are plans to hold premieres for the film. While one waits to see a final announcement around an event like this in Mumbai, the makers also felt that Kolkata deserved a premiere of its own. After all Vidya has a Bengali connection while director Sujoy Ghosh comes from the same region as well. Moreover since KAHAANI is about a woman's hunt for her husband in Kolkata, it was but obvious that the journey started from there. However it seems unlikely that this would be possible,'' informs a source. CHECK OUT: KAHAANI promos kill KILL BILL rumour!
The reason behind this is an award ceremony which is taking place in Bangkok during the same time period when KAHAANI is planned for release. Since Sujoy wants to show the film to some prominent Bengali directors/actors and it's these very people who won't be in the city during the release, it would have been futile to plan for a premiere.
''Yes, it's unfortunate. I really wanted to host a premiere in Kolkata but then people would be away,'' sighs Sujoy, ''Let's see how it goes. I have still not lost hopes and am trying to figure out the logistics. The final decision would be taken in a little while from now. May be we may just manage to sneak in a premiere.''
