Vidya Balan may be the most easily approachable person thanks to her amiable nature however it takes lot to convince the arguably numero uno actress of Bollywood when it comes to signing her for a film.
In fact even Sujoy Ghosh had to match up to Vidya's expectations to sign her for the film. Sujoy had to even redraft the script until Vidya said yes to the film.
Vidya reveals, "Initially Sujoy came to me with the script which I didn't want to do. So, I told him we'll work on something else. But he was firm and said I will keep coming to you till you say yes. I'll keep bringing ideas for you. I thought Sujoy will never come back but to my surprise he actually came back with an altogether different script. And this time I was really interested in doing it as it was a story of a young woman on her way to become a mother." CHECK OUT: KAHAANI's 'Aami Shotti Bolchi' Salute to city of joy - Kolkata
The actress further added, "It's probably the biggest transition in the life of a woman. And when her husband goes missing at such a stage, how do you reconcile to the fact that someone who is so close to you has gone missing? Suddenly people around you are saying there is no such person. Then you begin to question a whole lot of things, but you know that this person is there because you are carrying the biggest proof of his existence i.e. his baby. I found it very interesting and that's how I gave my nod to Sujoy."
Even for her most successful film THE DIRTY PICTURE, in the recent past, Vidya was apprehensive taking up the project. It took director Milan Luthria to convince the actor. Recalling about how Milan convinced her for THE DIRTY PICTURE Vidya says, "I always used to ask Milan why he selected me for THE DIRTY PICTURE. And he would only say I'll answer your question post release. And when the film released and opened to humungous response, Milan said 'The reason I casted you because I thought you will bring respectability to sleaze'."
Well now we know the success KAHAANI of Vidya Balan!
