Trust Percept Pictures to create a cult out of their biggest electronic dance & music festival, Sunburn!
Percept Pictures has join hands with Viacom 18 Motion Pictures to make a first of its kind, unique and path breaking extension to India's premier music and event experience 'Sunburn' into 'Sunburn - The Movie'. Anurag Kashyap and Vikas Bahl of Phantom Films will lead the project based on Asia's biggest music festival, Sunburn.
Mr. Shailendra Singh - Jt. MD, Percept Limited & Inceptor of Sunburn says, ''This is a rare case where we have created/produced India's first Entertainment local brand, Sunburn and now being sold globally. So it's a moment of pride for Indians. This is Asia's No.1 festival and ranked 7th in the world today. The process of any festival brand goes through a journey which gets physicalize. If you don't physicalise a brand you are not able to monetize it. It's quite historic moment. The world has been doing music festivals for 55 years and Sunburn is world's first dance and music festival which is all set to create Motion Pictures. We are very proud and feel honoured that we found partners in Viacom 18's team. The energy, the dominance they have in cinema space is incredible. And we are sure we'll have long run. In the content space nobody is better than Anurag kashyap. So we are very blessed to have an interesting team.'' CHECK OUT: Anurag Kashyap's double bill coming soon
He adds, ''SUNBURN is a global dance music festival - SUNBURN fans go beyond the ones who have attended the festival. We were live in over 100 countries this year with 1,00,000 attendees. Fans have relished the experience and we thought of enhancing the same through cinema. With like minded partners Viacom 18 and Phantom we want take this to the next level. We have produced the first GLOCAL brand out of India - produced locally sold globally.''
Mr. Vikram Malhotra - COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures says, ''For us it's not just a movie. It's the spirit of Sunburn. It's India going global. This is unlike anything which India has ever seen in the Motion Pictures space, in the branded entertainment space. Sunburn is now a property which is a vibe, it's a phenomenon, it's a viral. It's by far the biggest cult event in the country. The way this brand has grown over the last 4 years is extraordinary. We are delighted to partner with Percept and Phantom to extend this power brand into an exhilarating cinematic experience, making it the first festival film in the world''
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap - Phantom Films says, ''Sunburn is like the Woodstock of India. Sunburn is where a lot of incredible musical minds meet. Amit Trivedi introduced me to Sunburn. In fact his annual pilgrimage is Sunburn. Percept has done a great job over the years to make it a world class event for music lovers. The music and atmosphere there has acquired a cult following from around the world. A film against its background will be enjoyed not only by the hardcore Sunburn fans but everyone who loves real stories and music''
Mr. Vikas Bahl - Phantom Films says, ''Apart from being a world class music fest, Sunburn also is a great platform to get real life stories. We are happy to join hands with Percept and Viacom 18 for making a film around the festival and launching 7 New Directors. It is rare to find one platform from where so many different stories can emerge while music is the passion that holds them together''
