Neha Sharma: I learnt so much from the failure of CROOK

In CROOK, Neha Sharma played an Australian girl of Indian origin who was torn between the love for her country and the man in her life. Though she had been noticed for her performance in the film, it wasn't quite a quintessential Bollywood heroine beginning for the actress. All of that is expected to change, now that she that she would be seen in the romcom KYAA SUPER KOOL HAI HUM.

"See, personally I feel that I fit into romcoms very well," smiles Neha, "I am not a serious or an intense person in real life and like watching those funny and cute love stories. Frankly, that's the kind of space for me to be in and I also think that it is easier to do such films. Of course I won't deny that every actor wants to do interesting films with characters which are really demanding. However for the moment KSKHH is indeed a cool space to be in. I am young and there is place for everything. I have not closed my options though and am picking up from whatever best is coming my way."

In retrospection though doesn't she feel that she could well have started with a different film than CROOK? Also, wasn't she mighty disappointed when the film, despite names like Emraan Hashmi, Bhatts, Mohit Suri and Pritam involved, didn't set the cash registers ringing?

"Obviously you do feel bad. When you do a film, you expect it to be a smash hit and people to love it. When it doesn't do as well as expected, then first you get into this little bit of denial mode. You feel that it will pick up in a couple of days. At the end of the day you do feel really disheartened though when that doesn't happen. What's the choice though than to move on," sighs Neha.

She is still looking at the entire experience as a contribution to her learning curve in the industry.

"Really, I learnt so much more from the failure of CROOK than I did from my first film down south (CHIRUTHA) which was a smash hit," she smiles, "When that film worked, I thought that all of it was too easy. However when CROOK failed, it taught me how important it is to not start taking things for granted. I have taken that in my stride and have put all the more effort into KYAA SUPER KOOL HAI HUM."
